About the WFPD
The Wappingers Falls Police Department has been under the Command of Commissioner Paul Italiano since April 2023. Since that time the Department has undergone reorganization to increase efficiency and police services.
Although we are considered a small agency, we offer 24/7/365 professional police services to the residents and businesses in the Village of Wappingers Falls
The Police Department maintains a staff which consists of full time and part-time police officers, including Patrolman, Detectives, Youth Officers, Traffic Enforcement, Community Affairs, Domestic Violence Support, Records and Dispatch. Our Agency is divided into three main areas Patrol Services, Detective Division and Support Services. We are currently in the process of having the agency meet the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services Accreditation standards. This will further enhance the effectiveness, efficiency and professionalism of our agency.
In addition to patrol and investigations we offer community programs that include Child Passenger Safety Inspections, Fingerprinting for licenses and employment, Medication Drop Box, Youth Services Unit, Senior Watch Program, Nixle Emergency Notifications, Hope Not Handcuffs, and a Neighborhood Traffic Safety Unit.
