Officer James Ashworth started the K-9 Unit in
June of 1996. Ashworth 's first K-9 "Max" was a
black German Shepard from Europe. Max was
trained in Patrol & narcotic detection. Max and
Officer Ashworth graduated from the Albany
County K-9 Academy . Max and Officer Ashworth
assisted at ground zero. Max retired in 2004
Ashworths new partner is "Cody", a 3 Year old
black and tan German Shepard from Holland. K-9
Cody is trained in Patrol & Narcotic Detection and
is a Graduate from the June 2004 Dutchess
County Sheriffs Office K-9 Academy .
